Startups Connect: Innovation Strategy

The central meaning of innovation relates to renewal. For this renewal to take place it is necessary for people to change the way they make decisions, they must choose to do things differently, make choices outside of their norm. During the Startups Connect networking event, one of IncuTrain’s incubatees and a prestigious Red Herring Asia 100 innovative startup and Asia Pacific Mobile Learning & Edutainment award recognition in 2010, Art Group, will share how a change in the thought process for doing business. Besides, there will have a session to share the knowledge on how to protect your innovation project.

About the Speakers

Mr. Daniel Chun

Mr. Daniel Chun is the founder of Art Group Limited - an affiliate partner for UCSI Blue Ocean Strategy Consulting in Greater China. Art Group Limited had been developing award winning Mobile Learning software in related knowledge industries. Before founding Art Group Limited, he held senior management positions at a HKSTP company – Siliconezone and manage over 70 patents and trademarks worldwide; before that he had been a director at Taiwan Mobile and Iridium in late 90's. Early in his career, he was head programmer for Hutchison Mobile Data in 90, Project Manager for CompuServe HK 93 and P-Plus who won a HK PCS license in 95. He is currently a PhD candidate in Mobile Learning and has a MBA, M.InfoTech and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing. He successfully helped companies create new marketspace and strategy including winning many awards in innovations including world renowned RedDot Design, HK Consumer Product Design, HK Stationery Award, Dr. Toy, etc. Currently Art Group is also named a prestigious Red Herring Asia 100 innovative startup and Asia Pacific Mobile Learning & Edutainment award recognition in 2010. He is currently a qualifying candidate to become Hong Kong's first Certified Blue Ocean Strategy Practitioner.

Mr. Charles HO
Mr. Charles Ho is a licensed U.S. patent attorney at Barron & Young Intellectual Property Limited at Hong Kong Science & Technology Park. Charles obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering in 1988 and 1993, respectively. In 2001, he obtained his Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University College of Law in the U.S. and has been working as a U.S. patent attorney in the U.S. and Hong Kong. Prior to going to law school, Charles had worked as a mechanical engineer for two years and a software engineer for five years. There are only a small number of licensed U.S. patent attorneys working in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and Charles is one of them. Located at Hong Kong Science Park, Barron & Young has assisted a number of Science Park-based companies to manage their IP assets, design around competitors’ patents, conduct patent searches, and prepare patent and trademark applications in the U.S., European Union, China, Japan, and Hong Kong.
